The Department of Hydraulic Engineering was established under Decision No. 1350/QĐ-ĐHCT dated 27/4/2018 of the Rector of Can Tho University, based on separation from the Department of Civil Engineering.
In 2022, the Department of Hydraulic Engineering was upgraded to the Faculty of Water Resource Engineering
The Faculty of Water Resource Engineering is the only unit that has been in charge of training engineers in Hydraulic Engineering in the Mekong Delta region. The Faculty of Water Resource Engineering is currently in charge of managing the following programs: Hydraulic Engineering (both Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels).
Hydraulic Engineering: is a major that helps students know about surveying, planning, designing, constructing, and managing hydraulic structures: retaining walls, sluice-gates, pumping stations, canal systems of all kinds, locks, and coastal engineering structures, etc. to meet the needs of infrastructure development for the development of agriculture, fisheries, and waterways in the Mekong Delta.
In addition, the faculty also chairs and participates in research projects, and attends and reports at domestic and foreign seminars and conferences. The faculty actively connects with industries/companies to introduce jobs to new engineers. According to statistics over the years, the percentage of students who have jobs after one-year graduation is very high.
