The Department of Hydraulic Engineering was established under Decision No. 1350/QĐ-ĐHCT dated April 27, 2018, issued by the Rector of Can Tho University, by separating it from the Department of Civil Engineering.
In 2022, the Department of Hydraulic Engineering was upgraded to the Faculty of Water Resource Engineering. The Faculty of Water Resource Engineering is the only unit responsible for training hydraulic construction engineering engineers in the Mekong Delta region.
The Faculty currently manages the following programs: Hydraulic Construction Engineering (at both Master's and Bachelor's levels).
Hydraulic Construction Engineering: This program equips students with knowledge in surveying, planning, designing, constructing, and managing hydraulic structures such as embankments, sluices, pumping stations, various types of canal systems, piers, coastal protection structures, etc., to meet the infrastructure development needs for agriculture, aquaculture, and waterway transportation in the Mekong Delta region.
Additionally, the Faculty leads and participates in scientific research projects, presenting at national and international conferences and seminars. The Faculty actively connects with enterprises to provide job opportunities for new engineers. According to statistics over many years, the employment rate of graduates is very high.
