Introduction to the Faculty of Automation
The Faculty of Automation was established in October 2022, formerly known as the Automation Department under the Faculty of Technology, Can Tho University. The Automation Department was founded in March 2008 based on human resources and facilities from the Department of Telecommunications & Control Engineering (Faculty of Information and Communication Technology) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Faculty of Technology) of Can Tho University.
Since its inception, the Faculty has managed two undergraduate programs: Control and Automation Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. In 2013, the Department of Automation launched the Master's program in Control and Automation Engineering. In 2018, the Faculty of Automation introduced the Doctoral program in the same field. In 2023, a high-quality program in Control and Automation Engineering (K49) was introduced. In early 2024, the Faculty launched the Biomedical Engineering program (K50). Notably, the Control and Automation Engineering program received internal AUN-QA accreditation in 2018, while the Mechatronics Engineering program received international AUN-QA accreditation in 2021.
Currently, the Faculty of Automation has 24 staff members (2 Associate Professors, 10 PhDs, 5 PhD candidates, 6 MScs, and 1 Bachelor's degree holder serving as the Faculty secretary). They are engaged in administration, teaching, scientific research, and technology transfer related to Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, and Biomedical Engineering. The Faculty currently has approximately 1,200 students.
As a unit under the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Automation shares the same mission: to train high-quality technical human resources in automation and mechatronics, conduct scientific research, and transfer technologies to serve the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region.
